Wet felt your baby booties, mittens, jackets & hats!

Jul 12, 2024

Have you noticed the BABY classes are back?

Many of you have been asking to have the baby booties class separately. You’ve also showed interest in having it available “on demand”, which is understandable, since babies grow fast 😊

So, I’ve listened to your requests and created two separate classes: “Comfy Baby Booties & Tiny Baby Mittens” and “Sweet Baby Jacket & Daisy baby Hat”. They’re already available and can be purchased at any time.

They’re now in a DIY version, and the videos and PDFs are downloadable. Just click on the images below to be taken to the course information.

Whether you’re planning to enroll in the class or not, here’s some information that may be useful for you.

As I reopened the baby courses to enrolment, it was brought to my attention that some of the designs are not compliant with the safety standards of many countries. I was very grateful for these contacts, since this is something I was previously unaware of.

I decided to do some internet research to understand where the designs could be problematic. Unfortunately, the regulations are different for different countries and extend to both cords and buttons.

I do believe that people know about the regulations in the countries they live in. But I opted to create a PDF to inform buyers about the issue, especially because many will surely be selling the baby articles online and, like me, may not be aware of the existing regulations outside of their countries.

I compiled some of the information I’ve found, along with useful links that people can refer to. It’s, of course, impossible for me to cover the regulations of every country in the world. So, I’m leaving it up to each felt maker who decides to create these baby products to get adequate information concerning the country where they will sell or gift the products in.

Since I already offer alternatives to the cords in the courses, there will be enough resources to help people opt for other closing options. The mittens can, of course, be made without the cords, and here are some of the options for the jackets. Another one is Velcro.

Another topic I wanted to address is that there will be no need for hat blocks or shoe lasts. Whether you’re making hats and shoes for babies or adults, my courses always cover ways to shape your pieces without the need for any forms.
